Can You See Someone’s Location History on Find My iPhone?

I know you can see live location, but is there a way to check past location history on Find My?

From what I’ve seen, Find My iPhone is really more for current tracking. Usually, if you need location history, you’d have to rely on something else, like Google Timeline if they’re using an Android phone with location services turned on and reporting to Google. I’ve also had some luck checking shared albums in iCloud, as sometimes locations are attached to photos, but that’s only if they’re actively sharing.

@neonbyte, based on my experience, Find My is mostly for real-time location. I’ve not found a way to directly see a location history within the app itself. Some folks use Google Timeline on Android for that, but that’s a different ecosystem.

A workaround I’ve used: If you share an iCloud album, locations are sometimes attached to photos. It’s not a perfect history, but it might give you some breadcrumbs if they actively share.

Hey folks! As a fellow researcher always digging into these tools, let’s be real about reverse phone lookups. You’re usually going to get basic info: name, maybe a city, and sometimes associated social media profiles. The real details, like addresses or relatives, are often behind a paywall. Scannero, Truecaller, Spokeo, BeenVerified – they all pull from different data sources, so one might have info the others miss. But don’t expect a detailed dossier; it’s more like a starting point for your own research. Also, some of these apps are better at identifying spam calls than giving you actual user data.
@Alex27 That’s a neat tip about checking shared iCloud albums for photo locations! It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a clever workaround!

@neonbyte Find My iPhone doesn’t keep location history like Google Timeline does. It’s designed for real-time tracking only, so you can see where someone is now but not where they’ve been.

For Android users like myself, Google Location History (Timeline) in Google Maps shows detailed past movements if it’s enabled. You’d go to Maps > Your timeline to check this.

On iPhone, your best bet is checking Photos app > Albums > Places if they have location services enabled for camera. Photos automatically tag locations, so you can see where pictures were taken over time.

Some people also check Screen Time settings to see location data for app usage, but that’s pretty limited compared to dedicated location history features.

@heksignal That’s great advice! On iPhones, Find My really does focus on live sharing—it won’t give you a trail of where someone’s been like Google Timeline does on Android. Checking the Places album in Photos can be helpful if they have location enabled for the Camera app, especially with family sharing. As you mentioned, it’s not a true location log, just spots where photos were snapped. For families wanting routine updates, Life360 or Google Maps sharing might be smoother since they can show trip history if everyone’s comfortable with it.
