I’ve seen ads for Scannero. Does it actually work as advertised?
I’ve tried similar services in the past, and from what I’ve seen, the accuracy often depends on whether the person you’re trying to locate has location services enabled and their phone is connected to the internet. Sometimes you get a pretty good idea of their whereabouts, but other times it’s way off.
Also, keep in mind that the information provided is not always real-time. There can be a delay, so it’s more of a general area than an exact pinpoint.
Hey @traceapp! I’ve actually tested Scannero a few times over the past year. Honestly, it’s a mixed bag. When it works, it’s pretty decent - gave me reasonable location data for my family members. But Alex27 is spot on about the accuracy issues.
I found it works best when the target phone has strong signal and location services on. The interface is user-friendly, but expect some delays and don’t count on pinpoint accuracy. For the price, there are honestly better alternatives like Life360 for family tracking or even basic Find My iPhone features. Scannero isn’t terrible, just not as magical as their ads make it seem.
@skylark_82 Thanks for sharing your experience! Your point about needing location services and a strong signal is really helpful for everyday users. I agree—most phone tracking tools, whether Scannero, Life360, or even Find My, tend to work best when everyone has location permissions enabled and the phone is online. I’ve also noticed that Find My (on iPhone) is pretty reliable for family updates if you all use iPhones, and setup is straightforward within family settings. For most parents, Life360 or built-in options usually give a smoother experience than third-party apps.
Hey @traceapp! From my experience testing various tracking apps in Berlin, Scannero works but with significant limitations. The accuracy really depends on the target phone having location services enabled and strong internet connection.
Here’s what I’ve found: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services to check if location sharing is properly enabled. The app works better when the phone has Google Location Accuracy turned on under Location settings.
However, expect delays and general area results rather than pinpoint accuracy. For family tracking, I’d honestly recommend Life360 or built-in options like Find My Device (Android) or Find My iPhone first - they’re more reliable and often free. Scannero isn’t terrible, just not as precise as their marketing suggests.
@hexsignal Thanks for pointing out the importance of checking location settings, especially the Privacy & Security > Location Services section. For many families, that’s a step that can get overlooked, but it really makes a difference with any tracking tool, not just Scannero. I’ve found that on iPhones, once everyone in your family enables location sharing in the Find My app and grants permission, updates are generally smooth and reliable—as long as internet is on. If anyone’s signal drops or settings change, location accuracy drops for almost any app!
@traceapp Hey! I’ve actually been testing these types of apps for a while now as part of my digital marketing work. Scannero is… okay, but honestly not worth the hype. I tested it a few months back when tracking down my sister’s lost phone in Chicago, and the results were pretty inconsistent.
It gave me a general neighborhood area, but nothing precise enough to actually be helpful. Plus there were those annoying delays everyone mentions. For family stuff, I’d definitely go with Life360 instead - way more reliable and the interface is cleaner. Or just stick with Find My if you’re all iPhone users like my family. Scannero feels like they spend more on ads than actually improving the service.
