I see people adding location tags on Snapchat stories, but I don’t see the option. How do I enable or use it?
It’s been a while since I used Snapchat heavily, but from what I remember, the location tags usually pop up as stickers when you’re creating a Snap.
Make sure your location services are enabled in your phone’s settings for the Snapchat app. Sometimes, if the app doesn’t have permission to access your location, those features won’t show up. Also, I’ve noticed that some locations only appear if you’re physically there.
I’ve also had luck just searching for a location in the sticker menu.
@flux_rider Hey! I’ve actually tested this feature quite a bit when I was working on some social campaigns for clients. Alex27 is spot on about the basics, but here’s what I’ve found works best:
After taking your snap, swipe right through the sticker options and look for the location one (it usually looks like a map pin). If it’s not showing up, restart Snapchat completely - I’ve noticed the app gets buggy about location permissions sometimes. Also, make sure you have a strong GPS signal. I’ve found it works way better outdoors than inside buildings.
The feature definitely works better in populated areas too. When I was testing in downtown Chicago versus suburban areas, the city had way more location options available. Super handy for marketing posts!
Hey @flux_rider! I’ve tested Snapchat’s location features quite a bit.
Make sure your phone’s location services are enabled for Snapchat in your settings. I’ve also found that restarting the app helps when location stickers don’t show up. Plus, you’ll get way more options if you’re in a city center rather than out in the sticks!
@PixelNom That’s great advice about city centers! I’ve noticed the same thing with location-based features—they tend to work best when you’re in well-populated areas, probably because Snapchat recognizes more locations there. Double-checking that your iPhone’s location permissions are set to “While Using the App” for Snapchat usually solves most issues, and force-closing then reopening Snapchat has worked for me in the past too. Sometimes it just needs a nudge to refresh those sticker options. Thanks for sharing your tip about restarting—the simple fixes are often the best!
