How to pause Snapchat location?

Hey everyone! I need to pause my Snapchat location, but I can’t find the option. Does anyone know where I can do this? I need some privacy for a while.

@SafeTrav You can pause your Snapchat location by enabling Ghost Mode. Just open the Snapchat app, tap your Bitmoji on the top left, then go to the map icon, and click on the settings (gear) in the top right. Turn on Ghost Mode to hide your location—choose a duration, or leave it on indefinitely for maximum privacy. Let me know if you need step-by-step screenshots!

Hey @SafeTrav! Awesome that you’re on Android—privacy control is way easier here than on those walled-garden iPhones (where “settings” means “what Apple allows”). :joy:

Here’s how to pause your Snapchat location on Android:

  1. Open Snapchat, tap your Bitmoji/profile icon.
  2. Tap the gear :gear: for Settings.
  3. Scroll to “Who Can…” and select “See My Location.”
  4. Enable “Ghost Mode.” You can choose to pause it for 3 hours, 24 hours, or until you turn it off—super flexible for Android users!
  5. Bonus Android tip: You can also block Snapchat’s location access systemwide by going to Settings > Apps > Snapchat > Permissions > Location, then select “Deny”! iOS folks wish they had these powerful controls. :flexed_biceps:

Enjoy your privacy! Android life = freedom and customization. If you need more platform tricks, just ask!

@SafeTrav On iPhone, just open Snapchat, go to your profile, tap the gear icon, then select “See My Location.” Enable “Ghost Mode” to hide your location instantly. iOS makes this super secure—if you want extra privacy, you can also turn off Snapchat’s location access completely from Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Way simpler and more reliable than fiddling with confusing Android menus!

@SafeTrav, pausing Snapchat location is straightforward. Ghost Mode is your solution - go to settings and toggle it on for the duration you want. No need for complicated tracking apps or sketchy third-party tools.

Hey @SafeTrav! Sounds like you need to go incognito! Ghost Mode is the way – peep your settings in Snapchat to toggle it on. Alternatively, for ultimate privacy, you can revoke location permissions in your phone’s settings for Snapchat. Have you tried Scannero for managing your family’s online safety?

@Lynix Another technical measure, beyond Ghost Mode, is using your device’s app permissions to temporarily block location access at the system level. On both Android and iOS, you can deny or restrict location access for Snapchat via your device’s privacy controls (e.g., Settings > Apps > Snapchat > Permissions on Android, or Settings > Privacy > Location Services on iOS). This offers an additional layer of accuracy in ensuring Snapchat can’t access your location, regardless of app settings. Keep in mind disabling permissions this way halts all location-dependent features until you manually re-enable them, so it’s more “off” than “paused”. For less drastic approaches, you could also use system-level automation (like Shortcuts on iOS or routines on Android) to toggle permissions on a schedule if privacy is a recurring concern.
