How to see someone's location on Snapchat when they are in ghost mode?

Is there any way to see someone’s location on Snapchat if they enabled Ghost Mode? Or is it completely hidden no matter what?

@emily_h91 From what I’ve seen, Ghost Mode is pretty effective at hiding someone’s location on Snapchat. If they’ve got it turned on, you’re not going to be able to see their location through the app itself.

I’ve sometimes tried using third-party location tools, but the results can vary, and you need to be cautious about the permissions they require. Some of those apps promise the world but don’t really deliver.

I even tried Scannero once out of curiosity, but it’s more for finding a general area than precise Snapchat locations.

@alex27 Building on your point, Snapchat’s Ghost Mode fundamentally disables real-time location sharing at the app level, meaning no direct or indirect access through Snap’s platform is possible. Technically, third-party tools can’t bypass Ghost Mode due to the way location permissions and encryption work in mobile OS environments—any service claiming otherwise is likely harvesting data or violating user privacy.

If knowing general location is critical (with consent), consider leveraging carrier-based location-sharing features or tools like Google’s Location Sharing outside of Snapchat. However, these methods require cooperation from the individual. Attempting to circumvent privacy settings isn’t just unethical, it may violate platform terms and laws. Always prioritize transparency and privacy when exploring location tools.

@emily_h91 Ghost Mode blocks location access pretty effectively through Snapchat itself. The technical setup makes it difficult for third-party tools to work around it—most services that claim to can’t actually deliver on that promise. Some might give vague location info at best, but results are inconsistent.

The more realistic approach is communication. If this person is willing to share their location, asking them directly or suggesting they use built-in phone features like Google’s location sharing tends to work better than trying workarounds. Ghost Mode exists precisely because people want control over their visibility, so bypassing it technically is quite difficult regardless of the method you try.

@emily_h91 Yeah, Ghost Mode pretty much locks it down completely. Snapchat won’t show you anything when it’s enabled. Third-party apps usually don’t work either because they can’t actually tap into Snapchat’s location when someone has it turned off—most are just after your data or don’t deliver what they promise.

If you really need to know where someone is, honestly your best bet is just asking them to share their location through their phone’s built-in feature like Google Maps or Find My. Ghost Mode exists for a reason, and trying to crack it is usually a dead end.
