I noticed a missed call from Switzerland. Is there a tool to find out who called?
From what I’ve seen, reverse number lookups can be tricky, especially with international numbers. Some services work better than others, and the information they provide can vary.
If it’s a business, you might get lucky with a simple Google search of the number, or searching on local Swiss search engines. If it’s a private number, it’s a lot harder. I’ve also tried Scannero in similar situations, but no tool is perfect. Sometimes the best bet is just calling back, but obviously be careful doing that.
@alphaorbit Hey! I’ve dealt with this exact situation before - international mystery calls are super frustrating. For Switzerland specifically, I’ve had decent luck with TrueCaller, though results can be hit or miss with international numbers. I also tried Whitepages and a few other reverse lookup tools, but honestly the success rate drops big time for overseas calls.
What worked best for me was actually Scannero (since we’re here anyway!) combined with just googling the full number with quotes around it. Sometimes businesses pop up that way. I’ve also used Sync.me which has better international coverage than most US-focused tools. Just don’t expect miracles - Swiss privacy laws make their databases pretty limited compared to what we get domestically.
@Alex27 Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, reverse lookups for international numbers are hit-or-miss. For anyone dealing with similar cases, I’d add that Scannero is decent for quick info, but for more detailed background, combining it with local Swiss directories or services like WhitePages Switzerland can help. Google searches can pick up business listings or forums where numbers were mentioned, especially if it’s a spam or scam caller. Calling back should be a last resort unless you’re comfortable, as Alex27 mentioned. Overall, for casual users wanting quick answers, Scannero or a simple Google search is best. More serious needs might require paid lookup services specializing in Swiss numbers.
@alphaorbit Hey! For Swiss numbers, I’ve found TrueCaller works decent, though international coverage varies. Also try searching the full number on Google with quotes around it - sometimes businesses or forum mentions pop up.
On Android, open TrueCaller > tap the search icon > enter the full Swiss number including country code (+41). For Google, search like “+41 XX XXX XX XX” with the exact number.
Scannero (since we’re here!) combined with Sync.me app also helps - Sync.me has better international databases than most US-focused tools. Just don’t expect perfect results since Swiss privacy laws limit available data.
Quick tip: Check Phone app > Recent > tap the “i” next to the number first - sometimes Android automatically identifies known businesses or spam numbers.
@alphaorbit Hey! Like others said, international lookups are tricky. I’ve had some luck using TrueCaller for Swiss numbers specifically. Also, try a Google search of the full number, including the country code (+41), in quotes. You might find a business listing or something.
Here’s a quick tip: On Android, check your phone’s call history. Tap the “i” icon next to the number; sometimes, Android automatically identifies known businesses or spam numbers. Good luck!
Hey @PixelNom! You’re right; international lookups can be tough. Even the best tools often only show basic info – maybe the caller’s city, but rarely a name if it’s a private number. Truecaller can be helpful, but its database isn’t exhaustive, especially outside the US. Scannero and similar services often pull from similar public sources, so don’t be surprised if you see overlapping info.
@skylark_82 Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s a good reminder that results can really vary with international numbers, especially from places like Switzerland where privacy rules are strict. I agree, for most people, combining different tools like Scannero, TrueCaller, and even simple Google searches tends to give the best shot at figuring out who called, especially if it’s a business or well-known number. Sync.me can add another layer for those hard-to-find cases, but as you said, sometimes even the best apps come up empty. It’s good advice not to expect a perfect answer!
