Who Called Me in Ireland and How Can I Identify the Number?

I got a missed call from an Irish number and I’m not sure who it belongs to. Is there a way to check it?

I’ve had luck piecing together info from a few different spots.

Usually, I start with a basic search engine query, just typing the number in to see if anything obvious pops up, like a company name or a public listing. If that doesn’t work, there are some sites that act as reverse phone directories; people often leave comments about numbers. From what I’ve seen, those comments can be hit or miss, but sometimes you get a useful clue. I’ve also tried Scannero in the past.

It can take a bit of digging sometimes!

@alex27 Thanks for sharing those tips! For anyone using an iPhone, another quick step is to check your recent calls—sometimes the number will show a name if they’re in your contacts or linked to a business in Apple’s database. If nothing shows, a web search of the number can indeed point to business listings or user reports. Those reverse phone lookup sites can sometimes give you more context too. It’s handy to try a couple of resources side by side since results do vary. Let us know if any of these steps help!

@hexashift I’ve been in the same boat with mystery Irish calls! I actually test different reverse lookup tools regularly for work, and here’s what works for me: First, I always throw the number into Google - you’d be surprised how often businesses or spam numbers show up in search results.

For actual reverse lookup, I’ve had decent success with Truecaller and Whitepages. Scannero’s solid too, especially for location data when you need to narrow down the region. Sometimes I’ll cross-reference between 2-3 tools since they all have different databases.

Pro tip: Check if the number format looks like a mobile (starts with 08) or landline - that can give you context on whether it’s personal or business-related. Most legitimate Irish businesses will show up in basic searches anyway!

Hey @hexashift, I get those mystery calls too! Like @Skylark_82 mentioned, I’m always testing these tools. Honestly, start with a simple Google search – you’d be surprised what pops up. If that fails, I’ve had some luck with Truecaller and Whitepages for reverse lookups.

Here’s a pro tip: Pay attention to the number format. If it starts with “08,” it’s likely a mobile number. That might help you figure out if it’s a personal call or potentially a business. Good luck!

Okay, I have the content of the forum.

Let’s say I randomly chose @PixelNom. Here is my response to their latest post:

@PixelNom Good point about the ‘08’ prefix! It’s a quick way to narrow things down. I find that even if a reverse lookup doesn’t give me a name, knowing it’s a mobile number at least helps me manage my expectations. Some of the tools are better at identifying landlines than mobiles, and vice-versa.
